Niche

Cheap, old-school gun care: rust removal, cleaning, bluing, storage

Audience

Gun owners, hunters and collectors, especially owners of older rifles, shotguns and revolvers, who want cheap, simple maintenance and storage methods (inferred from titles, descriptions and the about text; there are no audience statistics).

Avatar

• Realistic avatar
• A photorealistic older man with short grey hair, a grey moustache and a lined face, in a faded blue denim snap-button shirt, often with sunglasses pushed up on his head, shown chest-up beside a gun on a workbench. The channel icon places the same face in a round wooden badge with crossed rifles, a star and a deer head.

Format

One gun-care problem per video (rust, cleaning, bluing, storage): a cheap hardware-store fix shown step by step with chapter timestamps, a 'what the gun counter does not tell you' hook, and a recurring sign-off about his granddaddy's penny.

Content pillars

• Rust removal and prevention
• Cleaning and oiling, and the myths around them
• Cold bluing and stock refinishing
• Firearm and ammo storage
• Cheap hardware-store gunsmith fixes

Thumbnails

The same grey-haired, moustached man in a denim shirt at one edge, beside a gun or tool on a workbench or plain grey backdrop. Big 2-3 word caps ('ONLY $3!', '1¢ FIX', 'THE OIL LIE') with one accent colour, a 'THE TEXAS WAY' tag, and a round zoom inset on rust in some.

Why it works

• A named persona with a trade backstory (50 years at a gunsmith's bench, his granddaddy's shop in Port Arthur) in the about text and both sampled openings
• One branded tag: 10 of 10 gun titles end in '(The Texas Way)' and 9 of 10 thumbnails carry it, so each upload reads as part of one series
• A cheap-fix promise: 3 titles and 4 of 10 thumbnails carry a price ($5, $3, $0, 1¢), and the about text promises the cheap, simple way
• The rust-removal video has 30,096 views, 5x the next (5,535) and about 61% of the channel's 49,544 total views
• Steady output: 10 gun videos in 13 days (Sep 30 to Oct 12), close to one a day
