Niche

Old-fashioned, low-cost home cleaning tricks in Spanish

Audience

Spanish-speaking home keepers, probably women, with a Mexican or Mexican-American framing (titles say 'al estilo mexicano', prices are in dollars), who want cheap, simple cleaning methods. Inferred from titles, descriptions and the about text; there are no audience statistics.

Avatar

• Realistic avatar
• A photorealistic woman in her fifties or sixties with short grey hair, round glasses, a teal T-shirt and bright green rubber gloves (an orange apron in one thumbnail), mostly smiling at the camera or pointing at a dirty item in a bathroom, kitchen or living room.

Format

One cleaning job per video: a 'look at your oven or toilet now' hook, why the store product or usual method fails, then the old cheap method from the host's mother and grandmother in steps; it closes with a 'do it tonight' call, a comment question and a goodnight.

Content pillars

• Bathroom and toilet cleaning: scale, showers, grout
• Kitchen deep cleaning: ovens, stove grates, pans, grease
• Laundry and soft furnishings: washer, pillows, sofa, carpets
• Cheap pantry cleaners: vinegar, baking soda, peroxide
• The old way: cleaning habits from mothers and grandmothers

Title patterns

• La Mejor Forma de Limpiar [X] (Al Estilo Mexicano)
• Cómo Recuperar [X] (El Truco de $2 que Nadie te Dijo)
• El Truco Con [X] Que Limpia TODO en Casa
• Así Limpiaban [X] Nuestras Abuelas Mexicanas (Y Por Qué Tú No Lo Sabías)
• Cómo Quitar [X] Sin Tallar (El Error Que Nadie le Dijo)

Thumbnails

Why it works

• A consistent persona: Carmen is in 10 of 10 thumbnails in the same teal T-shirt, with green gloves in 9; the about text credits her mother and grandmother
• A maternal voice: 'mija' appears in 10 of 18 descriptions, and the transcript uses terms of endearment and a goodnight sign-off
• 'Truco' in 5 of 18 titles, including the 3 most viewed (13,287, 9,157, 4,857 views); the 7 'Mexicano' titles peaked at 1,520
• Uniform thumbnails: a bold 2 to 5 word caption in 10 of 10 and a red arrow at the problem or result in 8 of 10
• Steady output for a new channel: 18 videos in 8 weeks (Aug 13 to Oct 7), about 1.6 a week, 6 to 17 minutes each
