Pastor Eli's Old Ways

Niche

Frugal pest control, cleaning and off-grid tricks with a Christian framing

Audience

Frugal, faith-minded homeowners and gardeners in the US (inferred: the persona asks viewers for their state), many of them older, plus off-grid and preparedness hobbyists. Inferred from titles, descriptions and the about text; no audience statistics.

Avatar

• Realistic avatar
• A photorealistic older man with a full white beard and swept-back white hair, a brown tweed jacket and a pale-blue collared shirt, shown in a kitchen, a garden and a living room, often holding a spray bottle or pointing at the problem.

Format

Scripted first-person talk: a vivid cold open on a household problem, a promise to be honest about limits and safety, a pennies-cost fix as one trap or a numbered list of 3–13 tips, then a comment question asking for the viewer's state, a next-video tease and a faith sign-off.

Content pillars

• No-poison pest control (flies, roaches, ants, spiders, rats)
• Cheap cleaning swaps (baking soda, vinegar, grout, paper towels)
• Living without electricity (clay fridge, cooling, dehumidifying)
• Garden and yard (fall crops, weeds, plant pests)
• Pantry and food keeping (never-expire foods, preserving tricks)
• Faith-framed frugality (scripture mottos, waste-nothing ethos)

Title patterns

Thumbnails

A bold yellow all-caps headline of 3–5 words at top or side ('FLIES GONE IN 2 DAYS', 'WEEDS GONE FOR $2'); a large close-up of the problem (insects, grout, a jar of flies); the white-bearded man at one edge, grimacing, pointing or holding up a palm; dollar tags on 3 of 10.

Why it works

• The top 2 titles (grout 22,835; roaches 10,824) name the problem first and promise a pantry fix; 7 of 29 titles open with a capitalised pest or problem word
• Two topics carry the views: 5 cleaning-swap videos hold about 60% and 12 pest-control videos about 36%; the other 12 hold about 4%
• A trust hook in the script and about text: it promises honest limits and safety rules, and at least 3 of the 8 newest descriptions say 'Honest as always'
• One persona kit: the same white-bearded 'Pastor Eli' in the avatar, the banner and 10 of 10 thumbnails, with a scripture motto (John 6:12) on the banner
• Thumbnail template: a bold yellow headline on 10 of 10, a large close-up of the problem, and the man reacting or pointing
